Top-seeded Connecticut is looking to become the first team to repeat as NCAA champions since Florida in 2007 when the Huskies battle National Player of the Year Zach Edey and Purdue in the title game on Monday night in Glendale, Ariz.

The Huskies advanced with a 86-72 win over Alabama in the Final Four on Saturday night. Connecticut extended its program-record 11-game winning streak in the NCAA Tournament and has won each of those games by double-figures – an NCAA record

Freshman Stephon Castle had 21 points for UConn, which is shooting for the sixth national title in program history. Donovan Clingan scored 18 points to go with five rebounds and four blocks, while Alex Karaban and Cam Spencer each finished with 14 points and eight rebounds.

Edey scored 20 points and had 12 rebounds as the Boilermakers emerged with a 63-50 win over N.C. State in their Final Four matchup.

Edey is the first Purdue player to earn back-to-back consensus first-team All-America honors since Rick Mount in 1969 and 1970. Edey, Mount and Terry Dischinger (1961, 1962) are the only two-time consensus first-team All-Americans in school history.

After losing in first round of last year’s NCAA Tournament, the Boilermakers have been on a mission to capture the national title.
